1. Working in Facilities Services 
Learners will explore the nature and range of services offered in the facilities sector, including: 

  • The role of facilities services organisations and the typical services they provide. 

  • Career opportunities and progression routes within the sector. 

  • The contribution of facilities services to improving energy, water, waste management, and the working environment. 

2. Health and Safety for Facilities Services 
This unit focuses on the importance of health and safety in facilities services, covering: 

  • Key health and safety legislation and responsibilities for both employers and employees. 

  • Safe working practices, including the correct use of equipment, materials, and personal protective equipment (PPE). 

  • Techniques for risk assessment, hazard reporting, and controlling workplace risks. 

  • Procedures for handling emergencies, such as fires and accidents. 

3. Working with Customers and Others in Facilities Services 
This unit emphasises the importance of effective communication and teamwork, including: 

  • How to communicate professionally with customers and adapt to different audiences. 

  • Strategies for handling difficult customer situations and creating positive impressions. 

  • The role of teamwork in facilities services, including key behaviours and conflict resolution techniques. 

4. Sustainability and Environmental Issues for Facilities Services 
Learners will gain an understanding of sustainability and environmental management, including: 

  • Key sustainability concepts and the importance of efficient resource usage. 

  • Environmental legislation and its relevance to facilities services. 

  • Practical actions to reduce energy and water consumption, minimise waste, and monitor resource usage.

To achieve the IWFM Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services Principles, learners must complete the following:
