Announcing Our Apprentice Digital Skills E-Learning Modules

By Claire Gardner

Gain confidence with technology and explore our suite of free-to-access bitesize digital skills e-learning modules.

To support adult social care staff to develop their knowledge and confidence in using digital technology, Skills for Care was commissioned by the NHS Transformation Directorate to develop a suite of free-to-access bitesize digital skills eLearning modules, in line with the Digital Skills Framework.

The e-learning modules were shaped and co-developed with people within adult social care, including care providers, local authorities, people drawing on care and support and subject matter experts.

The modules are designed to support people working in adult social care to gain knowledge and understanding on how digital, data and technology is used in the sector.

Each module has a set of three learning chapters and objectives. They may each take longer to complete if wider learning materials and resources are accessed within each module.

They are free to access, with the opportunity to receive a completion certificate at the end of each module (or a single certificate for all seven modules if they are all completed).

This article is part of our Learner Pulse series, which provides our learners with useful guides and resources to assist them in their aprenticeship journey. To follow this series and find similar articles, view our blog or follow us on LinkedIn or Facebook.

The Seven Modules

1:
Using technology to support person-centred care

2:
Technical skills in using technology

3:
Communicating through technology

4:
Using and managing data

5:
Being safe and secure online

6:
Ethical use of technology

7:
Digital learning, development and wellbeing

Each module has a set of three learning chapters and objectives. They may each take longer to complete if wider learning materials and resources are accessed within each module.

Benefits

  • The modules can help learners to develop a broad base of digital knowledge and skills in adult social care
  • Learners can complete an interactive learner notebook alongside the modules which can help them to apply their knowledge in their own workplace and care setting, to support the delivery of care
  • Learners can access wider information and resources on digital technology and care, via each module
  • The modules are free to access, with the opportunity to receive a completion certificate at the end of each module.

Access The E-Learning Modules

To access the eLearning, learners need to log in to their Skills for Care account (or register for an account if they don’t already have one) and select the ‘Virtual Learning Environment’ button on the Skills for Care account dashboard.

On the VLE page, select the Digital Skills eLearning from the list of available modules. Then select on “Digital Skills – 7 module bundle offer” and then select “Enrol Me”.

Each module has an individual completion certificate, but once you have completed all seven modules, you will be able to download a full course certificate by selecting the “all modules complete” link.
